PinMAME

Here's how to setup PinMAME and VPinMAME in QuickPlay:

1. Go to http://pinmame.retrogames.com and download the following:
* Visual PinMAME binary
* PinMAMEW binary
* PinMAME Sound Samples

2. Extract PinMAME binary into your desired directory

3. Extract PinMAMEW binary into same directory as PinMAME binary

4. Move downloaded samples into the samples subdirectory of where you extracted PinMAME binary to. (When you extract PinMAME binary there should be a new samples directory. This is where you place the samples [keep them zipped])

5. Go to http://www.vpforums....bles/tables.php to download some required files for VPinMAME. You will need:
* Font collection
* VBS Scripts

6. Extract the VBS Scripts into the same directory as your PinMAME binary (same directory as VPinMAME.exe and PinMAME.exe)

7. Extract the Fonts Collection file into C:\Windows\Fonts

8. You'll need to add VPinMAME as an emulator to your QuickPlay emulator list.

9. Once VPinMAME is added, go to Emulators --> Emulator Management and go to PinMAME (or whatever you named your new pinball emulator)

10. On the line for Parameters enter: VPinball.exe /Play -"%ROMFILENAME%"

11. Click OK to close the Emulator Setup window.

System Font Support

== Introduction ==

QuickPlay will now attempt to use whatever your default Windows font is set to. QuickPlay reads the value set for "Message Box" text and applies it to all elements on every form. Font size/style is also adhered to. This may lead to a problem where very large sized fonts don't fit into the UI. If this is the case, any areas where slightly larger than standard fonts are cropped should be reported in the QuickPlay forums as a bug.

== Disabling System Font Detection ==

The support for this font detection can also be disabled if it causing major problems. Unfortunately as of yet there is no UI to disable the font detection, so you must manually do it by following doing the following:

# Browse to the QuickPlay installation directory.
# In the same directory as qp.exe create a file and call it "DisableSysFont.jon". Be aware that by default Microsoft Windows will hide a file's true file extension.
# Restart QuickPlay and the fonts will revert to the fonts at compilation time.

== Future Developments ==

Currently this font detection support is pretty basic. In the future expect to see:

* UI settings to control font detection, instead of creating random files!
* UI better copes with very large fonts.
* Possibly the option to use the system font, but not its size? And vice-versa?

Command Line Parameters

QuickPlay supports the following command line parameters:

* /MAXIMISE - Maximises Quickplay when it loads.
* /NORMALSIZE - Always launch Quickplay non-maximised.
* /NOMENU - Turns off the menu bar
* /NOSTATUSBAR - Hides the statusbar
* /NOBORDER - Hides the Window Border
* /HTPC - Turns off Statusbar, menu and Window Border.

All switches are case-insensitive. Switches can be combined for whatever cumulative effects are appropriate.

== Daemon Tools Parameters ==
Daemon Tools Pro command line Options:

* /mount - Allows mounting images from command line (or shortcut).
** Syntax: DTProAgent.exe -mount [scsi | ide], <n>, <path> where 'scsi' or 'ide' means the drive type ('scsi' is the value by default), 'n' means DVD-ROM device number and 'path' is the full path to the image file.
** Example: DTProAgent.exe -mount scsi, 0,"c:\My Images\nameofimage.cue".
*** Do not forget to set the path in quotes if it contains spaces!

* /unmount - Allows unmounting images from command line.
** Syntax: DTProAgent.exe -unmount [scsi | ide], <n> where 'n' means DVD-ROM device number and 'scsi' or 'ide' means the drive type ('scsi' is the default value).
** Example: DTProAgent.exe -unmount scsi, 0

* /safedisc - Allows turning Safedisc emulation on/off from command line.
** /safedisc on - Enables emulation,
** /safedisc off - Disables it

* /securom - Allows turning Securom emulation on/off from command line.

** /securom on - Enables emulation
** /securom off - Disables it

* /laserlok - Allows turning Laserlock emulation on/off from command line.

** /laserlok on - Enables emulation
** /laserlok off - Disables it

* /rmps - Allows turning RMPS emulation on/off from command line.

** /rmps on - Enables emulation
** /rmps off - Disables emulation.

QuickPlay began development in July 2001 as a challenge between John and his brother to see which is the better language: Delphi (which QuickPlay is written in) or Visual Basic 6. My brother gave up and turned to writing 'easier' applications, such as save-state editors. The project has kind of taken on a life of its own and although new versions dont come along very often, it's still going!

GoodMerge is a rom set in which all known versions of a particular game are zipped into one file. Quickplay supports reading directly from zipped GoodMerge sets, and gives you the option to select whichever version you would like to play. It also gives you the option to set a default version to be run whenever the game is chosen.

Right click on a system you've setup in the roms windows in the sidebar - go to folder option - tick 'use image for folder background' - point to a background.

QP isn't finding the default 'no image found' image and/or the new logo - these need to be in the root QP folder.

Rename mame.ini (in the MAME folder, not the dats folder) to mame64.ini, and then select it in the config.
